Local conceptual artist Elaine Fewings presents her latest exhibition following her stunning win at the 2024 Esperance Art Awards. Everyone has that “miscellaneous drawer” - the place where like-minded objects collect. The ones that seem to have nowhere else to go. In this show, Elaine takes an honest look at the state of her own clutter. She states: “Objects that were once loved (maybe not dearly) often end in a careless collaboration with the top of a fridge or some other obscure, out-of-the-way surface. These areas are a never-ending source of frustration for the wannabe minimalist… I decided to do something about it… Now there are more beautiful problems… and everything is art.” The exhibition is open from 19 June to 13 July in the Art Room Gallery at the Cannery Arts Centre. Elaine will be on-site every Thursday during the exhibition for informal Q&A sessions.
